Abstract

Abstract : (Abstracted from N Engl J Med 2017;376:815–825) Subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) during pregnancy has been associated with impaired fetal neuropsychological development. Several organizations recommend treatment of subclinical thyroid dysfunction, although the Controlled Antenatal Thyroid Screening study found mothers who were treated with levothyroxine for hypothyroidism or hypothyroxinemia did not have children with improved cognitive function compared with controls.
