Abstract

Summary: A novel switching structure composed of 3 inductors and 6 diodes, which can realize the step‐up function is proposed. The switching structure was added into 2 basic Boost converters, and 2 new types of direct current–direct current converters were obtained: an asymmetric inductor‐diode‐capacitor converter and a symmetric inductor‐diode‐capacitor converter. The step‐up function of the 2 converters depends mainly on charging and discharging of the inductors and capacitors. Theoretical analysis showed that the asymmetric inductor‐diode‐capacitor (A‐LDC) and symmetric inductor‐diode‐capacitor (S‐LDC) converters are characterized by high‐voltage gain, low‐switching stress, and low‐inductance ripple. The theoretical analysis was verified by simulation and experimoental verification.
