- Abstract: We report the preparation of difluoro‐ exo ‐glycals by gem ‐difluoroolefination of benzylated sugar‐derived lactones using a modified Julia reaction. The addition is highly stereoselective, and the Smiles‐rearrangement–elimination sequence can be carried out under microwave irradiation.
