Graphical abstract: Highlights: A facile domino Ugi/Michael approach for α, β-unsaturated γ-lactams in one-pot. No metal catalysts or bases were used. The diversity of the desired products is guaranteed by the Ugi-4CR. Abstract: A domino Ugi/Michael access to α, β-unsaturated γ-lactams has been elaborated. This protocol offers a simplistic assembly of a α, β-unsaturated γ-lactams in good yields starting from nitrogen-containing heterocyclic aldehydes, amines, 2-alkynoic acids, and isocyanides.
