- ABSTRACT: Graphene-nickel nanoparticles (G-Ni Nps) hybrid was produced in a single step through spray pyrolysis method. Toluene and nickel oleate were used as a carbon source and catalyst precursor with different concentrations, respectively. The reaction was performed in a continuous vertical reactor at 900–1000°C. G-Ni Nps was characterized using Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and EDX. The results showed that in an optimized ratio of oleate in toluene, the G-Ni hybrid consisted of less than 10 layers with nickel on the surface of graphene. The thermal conductivity of G-Ni Nps was investigated with 1% nanohybrid in water. The results showed that this hybrid has enhanced thermal conductivity about 23% in comparison with base fluid. In addition, the magnetic properties of G-Ni Nps were investigated and saturation magnetization of 820 emu g −1 obtained.
