- Abstract : The uranyl sheet structure of A5 U5 O17 (OH) (A = Na, K) was analyzed for the first time. Abstract : High quality single crystals of the monoclinic phase K5 U5 O17 (OH) were synthesized via a hydrothermal method utilizing the supercritical regime of water. The structure of K5 U5 O17 (OH) is isotypic with the Na phase, Na5 U5 O17 (OH), however crystallizes in a slightly different space group due to size effects. K5 U5 O17 (OH) has the same sheet-anion structure as the Na analog, whose topology is analyzed here for the first time. K5 U5 O17 (OH) shows fluorescence typical for uranyl species.
