- Abstract: Two new heteropolyniobate compounds, (C2 N2 H10 )6 [(GeOH)2 Ge2 Nb16 H2 O54 ]· 25H2 O (1 ) and [Cu(en)2 (H2 O)2 ]5 K10 [K(GeOH)2 Ge2 Nb16 H3 O54 ]2 · 38H2 O (2, en = ethylenediamine), have been prepared under hydrothermal–conventional combination conditions and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, powder and single‐crystal XRD, diffuse reflection spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. Compounds1 and2 are based on [(GeOH)2 Ge2 Nb16 H2 O54 ] 12– and [K(GeOH)2 Ge2 Nb16 H3 O54 ] 10– building blocks, respectively. Compound1 represents the initially isolated Nb/Ge lacunary derivative and compound2 exhibits 1D ladderlike chains. The photoluminescence properties and electrochemical properties of compounds1 and2 have been investigated. Abstract : Two new Ge IV ‐containing heteropolyniobates are constructed by a hydrothermal–conventional combination approach. Compound1 is an isolated cluster and compound2 exhibits the first 1D ladder‐like Ge/Nb heteropolyniobate cluster with μ‐K atoms bridging them into extended structures. The photoluminescence and electrochemical properties of both compounds are investigated.
