Abstract

Abstract: Low public understanding on biomass energy is suspected as one of causes of slow progress of biomass energy application. This paper presents an adoption of rapid appraisal method for comprehension assessment of online information of biomass energy. The method consists of quantitative measure of written information by a standardized readability test and a measurement of readers' reaction toward the text. Readability assessment by four standard tests was performed prior to readability survey by self-administered semi-structural questionnaire to confirm assessment by readability standard test. This study indicates the method is applicable for the improvement of public understanding on biomass energy technology.
