- Abstract: WC-Co-Cr3 C2 -VC nanocomposite powders were prepared by solution combustion synthesis and carbothermal reduction for the first time. The Cr and V elements were doped into the nanocomposite by liquid-liquid mixing in the course of solution combustion synthesis and then Cr3 C2 and VC were generated in situ during carbothermal reduction process. The C, W, Co, O, Cr and V elements are evenly distributed in the precursor which is conducive to carbonization process. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectra revealed the existence of Cr3 C2 and VC. The as-prepared nanocomposite powders are composed of spherical or elliptical particles with the size of 30–100 nm.
