Abstract : In this issue, Drawnel et al. (2017) introduce the concept of a "molecular phenotype" and demonstrate how "big data" coming from gene expression profiling, combined with signaling pathway information, small-molecule chemical information, preclinical animal models, and clinical samples can empower phenotypic discovery at several critical levels.
