- Abstract : In order to study the reactivity of various Grignard reagents with differently substituted A3 ‐ and trans ‐A2 B‐corrolato Ag III complexes, we have performed a series of reactions. We have observed that among the various Grignard reagents studied, methylmagnesium chloride is the most potent and resulted in the quantitative demetallation of the corrolato–Ag III complexes and produced the respective free‐base corroles exclusively. As expected, we have not observed the formation of any unusual σ‐methyl/phenyl derivatives. Abstract : A new demetallation strategy for Corrolato–Ag III complexes has been developed. A series of Corrolato–Ag III complexes with varying substituents have turned out to be very effective substrates and demetallation was observed exclusively with excellent yields in all cases.
