Abstract

Abstract : Bistable photoswitching using green and red light is demonstrated with a simple hemithioindigo dye and allows wavelength selective switching in a mixture. Additionally, protonation can be used as a second independent input changing absorption wavelengths and bistability while retaining full photoswitching capacity. This dual responsiveness for light and acidity allows for the construction of sophisticated molecular digital information processing devices such as half adder, 4:2 encoder, or a conceptionally new self‐erasing high security keypad lock.
