Abstract

Abstract : A pair of nucleobases can be combined to form different silver(I)‐mediated base pairs, depending on the nucleic acid sequence. If the complementary strands align in a parallel‐stranded fashion, two silver(I) ions are incorporated. An antiparallel alignment leads to a metal‐mediated base pair with one silver(I) ion and a synergistic hydrogen bond.
