Abstract

Abstract : Ransomware poses a dire threat to all businesses – regardless of size, sector or location – and therefore all businesses must be prepared to deal with an attack. Despite a growing recognition of ransomware attacks, too few businesses have done enough to ensure they are protected. As a result, these attacks have remained an incredibly profitable route for cyber-criminals looking to take advantage of ill-prepared organisations and they have continually moved towards targeting companies of smaller status in increasingly disparate locations. Ransomware poses a dire threat to all businesses and therefore all organisations must be prepared to deal with an attack. Yet too few have done enough to ensure they are protected. As a result, these attacks have remained an incredibly profitable route for cyber-criminals. Businesses need to marshal their resources, ensure they have a strategic plan in place, train up their workforce and deploy the full gamut of policies and procedures to keep their networks and systems safe, says Mike Simmonds of Axial Systems.
