- Abstract: The various coagulants such as ferric chloride, ferrous sulphate, aluminiumsulphate, poly aluminium chloride (PAC), Tamarind seed powder, Chitosan and Xanthum gum have been used in this study to show the efficiency of coagulation-flocculation process for the reduction of COD from the small scale textile industry wastewater. This study also includes different varying parameters such as coagulant dose, pH of solution, settling time, initial concentration of solution and temperature were investigated using jar-test experiment. The results indicate that ferric chloride is efficient at pH range 4 and at optimal dose of 4g/l. Ferric chloride allows the reduction of 54% of chemical oxygen demand (COD) compare to other coagulants. Physico-chemical Characterization of sludges were performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Energy dispersive x-ray analysis (EDAX).
