- Abstract: For sustainable manufacturing, the concept of green manufacturing has received a wide acceptance by the manufacturers. A technique called Green Manufacturing Index (GMI) is moulded in this paper, which will determine the effectivity of the green manufacturing process in terms of economic and environmental prospects. The method of GMI has been developed by sub-categorizing the machining practices based on their limitations, economic and environmental impacts to maintain a sustainable manufacturing standard for industries. The proposed technique would be applicable to any manufacturing process in industry.
