- Abstract : Ca(PF6 )2, a potential Ca-ion battery electrolyte salt, is stabilized towards oxidation by crown ether ligands; however, forced oxidation of the Ca⊂crown complex affords an unprecedented Ca4 F4 cubanoid cluster. Abstract : The development of rechargeable Ca-ion batteries as an alternative to Li systems has been limited by the availability of suitable electrolyte salts. We present the synthesis of complexes of Ca(PF6 )2 (a key potential Ca battery electrolyte salt) via the treatment of Ca metal with NOPF6, and explore their conversion to species containing PO2 F2 − under the reaction conditions.
