- Abstract : Up the junction : A non‐fullerene acceptor, SCPDT‐PDI4, composed of perylenediimide (PDI) and a spiro core of 4, 4'‐spirobi[cyclopenta[2, 1‐b;3, 4‐b']dithiophene] (SCPDT), has been developed. SCPDT‐PDI4 exhibits a unique 3D structure and isotropic charge transport properties. Organic solar cells based on SCPDT‐PDI4 and a donor polymer of poly[4, 8‐bis(5‐(2‐ethylhexyl)thiophen‐2‐yl)benzo[1, 2‐b;4, 5‐b']di‐thiophene‐2, 6‐diyl‐alt‐(4‐(2‐ethylhexyl)‐3‐fluorothieno[3, 4‐b]thiophene‐)‐2‐carboxylate‐2–6‐diyl)] PTB7‐Th achieved a remarkable quantum efficiency of 7.11%, indicating SCPDT‐PDI4 is a very promising non‐fullerene acceptor for organic solar cells.
