- Abstract : Presence of bisexual individuals and a sex‐specific bimodal size distribution are suggestive of protogyny in the dash‐and‐dot goatfish Parupeneus barberinus, but the most parsimonious interpretation of histological analysis is juvenile hermaphroditism. This is the first report of hermaphroditism in the Mullidae.
