Abstract

Abstract : A glutathione (GSH) activatable photosensitizer‐conjugated pseudopolyrotaxane nanocarrier is fabricated as a new photodynamic theranostic platform by Q. Jin, J. Ji, and co‐workers on page 6223. The nanocarriers exhibit a GSH activated fluorescence signal and phototoxicity for PDT (photodynamic therapy). After being internalized by cancer cells, the high concentration of GSH triggers the release and activation of Ce6. Upon in situ light irradiation, a highly toxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) was generated, inducing cell apoptosis and necrosis.
