- Abstract: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Choleraesuis, an organism highly adapted to swine, rarely causes invasive human infection. We describe a fatal case of Salmonella ser. Choleraesuis infection developing iliopsoas abscess. A part of organisms recovered from the blood formed mucoid colonies, which became reactive to anti-O antigen antisera after either heat treatment or subculture through semisolid agar.
