Abstract

Abstract : A series of Pd– N ‐heterocyclic carbene (Pd‐NHC) complexes with pyrazine (1 ) or pyridine (2 ) and NHC (3 ) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and spectroscopic methods. In addition, the molecular structure of3 was determined by X‐ray diffraction studies. The effects of these ligands on catalyst activation and the performance of complexes1, 2, 3 were studied onSuzuki–Miyaura reactions of phenylboronic acid with aryl chlorides. Finally, we demonstrated that complex1 is very adept at re‐forming the Kumada–Tamao–Corriucross‐coupling reaction . Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Abstract : The Pd‐NHC complexes with Pyrazine(1 ) or Pyridine(2 ) and NHC(3 ) were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis and NMR spectroscopy. The complex1 was established by an X‐ray diffraction study. The catalytic activities of complexes(1‐3 ) in Suzuki‐Miyaura C–C coupling reactions were investigated and compared. Further, the catalytic activity of the new complex(1 ) was reviewed for the Kumada–Corriu coupling of aryl halides with aryl Grignard reagent.
