Abstract

Abstract : DOI:10.1002/pmic.201500463 Mass spectrometry analysis of different linkages sialic acid is attached to the glycan backbone is a daunting task requiring derivatisation steps. In this work we applied lectins specifically recognizing either α‐(2, 3)‐ or α‐(2, 6)‐linked terminal sialic acid for specific glycoprofiling of a prostate specific antigen (a prostate cancer biomarker) using immunosensors based on electrochemical detection. Both methods were directly compared with a good agreement suggesting that electrochemical lectin‐based immunosensor has potential to be applied for prostate cancer diagnosis.
