Abstract

ABSTRACT: In this issue, we explore the lookup and reference functions available in Excel. The lookup and reference functions category enables you to return information about specific cells or parts of the worksheet. These functions give you the ability to look up for a particular value in a large list and are like a telephone directory. In a telephone directory, you look for the telephone number of a person with their name. Similarly, lookup functions take the value from a cell, go over to a look-up table, retrieve the appropriate value from table and bring it back to the cell. In essence, these functions allow you to examine large amounts of data and find information, which matches or approximates certain conditions.
