- Abstract : The structure and use of the medieval renter row, 119–23 Upper Spon Street, Coventry, is examined and compared to the 'Wealden' row, 159–62 Spon Street, Coventry, 34–50 Church Street, Tewkesbury, the longest surviving row of medieval renters, and other previously described renters. Most of them are part-floored, generally with footprints in the range of 15–30m 2, and some of them have smoke aprons to protect the upper rooms. Such premises might have been built for small traders and wage earners.
