- Abstract:
- ABSTRACT: A low-power and low-phase noise capacitive-degeneration LC voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) is presented. The capacitive-degeneration method is used to reduce the flicker noise and thermal noise of the cross-coupled pair, while the current switch technique is implemented to reduce the flicker noise and thermal noise of the current source. Compared with conventional LC VCO, the proposed design achieved 40% less power consumption and 4.6 dBc better figure of merit while oscillating at the similar frequency.
