- Abstract: The magnetic hysteresis/coercivity in Ni-Mn-Ga is quantified in the phase-field model by introducing a Magnetic Resistant Field (MRF) into the magnetic kinetic equation. Then microstructural processes of Mechanically-Induced Demagnetization (MID) and Magnetically/Mechanically-Induced Remanent Magnetization Rotation (MaIR/MeIR) are simulated. It is found that MID is a special case of MeIR, in which the remanent magnetization decreases significantly after its rotation. The remanent magnetization magnitude after MeIR will always be the smaller one of the initial remanent magnetization and the retentivity of ending martensitic variant. An analytical criterion determining remanent magnetization after MeIR under arbitrary demagnetization factors is proposed for potential applications. Graphical abstract:
