Abstract

Abstract : Nanostructured transition metal (Fe, Co and Ni) carbides and nitrides have attracted much attention due to their active properties in various areas such as nanomagnetism, biomedicine, and electrocatalysis. However, the intrinsically harsh characteristics of carbides and nitrides make their synthetic protocols difficult, especially at the nanoscale. The Focus Review featured on the Back Cover discusses both traditional and de novo synthetic strategies to generate these materials, as well as their electronic, magnetic, and crystallographic structures, and biomedical and catalytic applications.
