Abstract : During cycling in a Na/Carbon half‐cell, the surface of the Na metal becomes progressively passivated and buried beneath an solid electrolyte interface layer, much like a beach getting covered by a rising tide. This leads to degradation of performance and eventual cell failure. However, performance can be restored to its original values through replacement of the Na metal & electrolyte. This is investigated by Xiulei Ji and co‐workers in article 1600449.
