- Abstract:
- Abstract : The front cover picture shows two scorpions approaching a metallic surface to illustrate the recent and novel use of scorpionate ligands in molecular machines studied on surfaces by scanning probe microscopy techniques. Each scorpion symbolizes a tripodal ligand with color codes for different key atoms. Two types of molecular machines are attached onto the metallic surface, thanks to the presence of the sulfur atoms (red). The first (left) is a molecular motor (left); the unidirectionality of the rotation of its upper cyclopentadienyl ligand is marked by the red arrow. The second (right) are two close molecular gears with two‐dimensional square paddles. Details are presented in the Microreview by G. Rapenne and C. Kammerer onp. 2214 ff. .
