- Abstract : The strong acid (C6 F5 )3 BOPPh2 OH, was prepared in situ by the reaction of the rather weak Brønsted acid Ph2 PO2 H with the strong Lewis acid B(C6 F5 )3 . Abstract : Autoprotolysis of the metastable acid (C6 F5 )3 BOPPh2 OH, prepared in situ by the reaction of the rather weak Brønsted acid Ph2 PO2 H with the strong Lewis acid B(C6 F5 )3, gave rise to the formation of the eight-membered ring [Ph2 POB(C6 F5 )2 O]2 and C6 F5 H. The conjugate base was isolated as stable sodium crown ether salt [Na(15-crown-5)][Ph2 PO2 B(C6 F5 )3 ].
