Abstract

Abstract : The cover picture shows three possible reaction pathways involved in dimethylsilanone release from polydimethylsiloxane polymer as concluded from desorption mass spectrometry experiments. The lower pathway shows elimination of dimethylsilanone directly from the polymer chain, middle shows formation of dimethylsilanone through gas‐phase decomposition of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane, and upper shows decomposition of tetramethylcyclodisiloxane into two dimethylsilanone molecules.
