Abstract: In the light of improving the balance between laser damage threshold (LDT) and the IR nonlinear optical (NLO) coefficient, single crystals of Na2 ZnGe2 S6 are prepared by solid state reaction of stoichiometric amounts of the elements (graphite crucible in evacuated silica tubes, 700 °C, 100 h; cooling to 200 °C at a rate of 5 K/h).
