Abstract

Abstract : (Abstracted from Pediatrics 2016;137(4). DOI: 10.1542/peds.2015-4343) Research has demonstrated that compared with children born near term, those born extremely preterm are at significantly increased risk of deficits in neurocognitive function and academic achievement at school age (up to 40%) and beyond. The objective of this study was to assess neurocognitive and academic ability in a contemporary US cohort of 873 children aged 10 years who were born less than 28 weeks' gestation from 2002 to 2004.
