- Abstract : The declining ability of the Northern Hemisphere biosphere to sequester carbon from the atmosphere is shown to be having an impact on the current rate of increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations equivalent to adding the annual man‐made emissions from China. If this trend continues, then global emissions will have to decline even faster than previously thought.
