- Abstract : Although the sputtering processes had a definite advantage, few researches had been focused on the influence of heating temperature and sputtering time processes on the grain growth and adhesive properties of tantalum-molybdenum (Ta-Mo) high-temperature coatings. In this article the growth of Ta-Mo coatings at various heating processes (25, 150, 350, 450 and 550°C) and sputtering times (5, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 60 min) had been investigated. The result of structures indicated that heating temperature process could increase the critical grain size and change the grain shape while the sputtering time process could increase the grain grown velocity and density. In addition, the growth equation that related grain diameters with various processes was simulated. Finally, an inverse relationship between growth mechanism and adhesive property of the Ta-Mo coatings using the various processes was observed.
