- Abstract : (Abstracted from Anesth Analg, 122:664–676, 2016) Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) can have stressful adverse effects and are a major concern in 30% to 70% of high-risk groups. Numerous studies have suggested that midazolam, a short-acting benzodiazepine with a sedative effect, may help to reduce PONV, as well as offer benefits of lower cost and fewer adverse effects than many other antiemetics.
