Abstract

Abstract : (Abstracted from Anesth Analg, 121:981–987, 2015) Adhesions and scarring in the epidural space and surrounding nerves may affect neuraxial analgesic spread and efficacy, which is a cause of concern for women with a history of spine instrumentation for scoliosis repair. In this prospective case-matched study, the authors hypothesized that women with spinal instrumentation would require more analgesic per hour to achieve pain relief, as well as have more difficulty with proper catheter placement (or increased time to catheter placement).
