- Abstract: Hydrogen Sulfide (H2 S), a kind of important gas signal molecules, serves as an important medium in physiological and pathological studies. It is also a hot spot in the research of chemistry and biology. We now report a new type of reaction‐based fluorescent probe for selective detecting H2 S in living cells that adopts H2 S reaction with tetrazine group (Tz) to dihydio‐tetrazine. The fluorescence probes, BODIPY−Tz‐I and BODIPY−Tz‐II (BODIPY: abbreviation for boron‐dipyrromethene), respond to H2 S by a turn‐on fluorescence signal enhancement and show high selectivity of H2 S over other biologically species. BODIPY−Tz‐I and BODIPY−Tz‐II can be used to detect H2 S in both buffer solution and cells in vivo, which provide a novel and effective approach for H2 S detection in biological systems.
