- Highlights: Streamlined drift correction is introduced into Runge-Kutta algorithms. Optimal streamlined algorithm for drift correction in stress integration identified. Simpler implementation than standard drift correction algorithm. Stress integration accuracy same as with standard drift correction algorithm. Abstract: The paper proposes an efficient method of drift correction in explicit stress integration schemes. The new method does not require significant changes to existing implementations and may, in fact, be regarded as a streamlining modification to standard drift correction schemes which may be used in tandem.
