Abstract

Graphical abstract: Highlights: NCS promoted, metal free approach for the synthesis of diaryl sulfides. Works at room temperature and does not require any oxidant or ligand. High yield of products and short reaction time. Abstract: A simple and an efficient procedure for the formation of diaryl sulfides via direct sp 2 C–H functionalization have been developed from simple and readily available thiophenols and substituted methoxy benzenes. In this process thiophenols were used as the sulfur source. In this transformation broad range of functional groups were well tolerated in good to excellent yields.
