Abstract : Mild and efficient synthesis of benzophenones via Ir(iii )- and Rh(iii )-catalyzed, directing group-assisted formyl C–H arylation of benzaldehydes has been achieved using diaryliodonium salts, in which Rh(iii ) and Ir(iii ) catalysts exhibited a complementary substrate scope.
