Abstract

Abstract : Spherical and flower-like Ce2 (MoO4 )3 hierarchical architectures were controllably synthesized via a facile microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. The phase structures and morphologies were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared, UV–vis absorbance spectra, micro-Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectra measurements. FESEM showed that the Ce2 (MoO4 )3 hierarchical architectures with distinctive morphologies could be selectively obtained by adjusting the reaction parameters of the hydrothermal process. The flower-like Ce2 (MoO4 )3 architectures showed higher photocatalytic activity than the spherical Ce2 (MoO4 )3 . According to experimental results, the possible photocatalytic mechanism of the Ce2 (MoO4 )3 photocatalysts was proposed.
