- Abstract : (Abstracted from Br J Anaesth, 115:376–385, 2015) Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is used as secondary prevention to myocardial infarction (MI) in patients with coronary artery disease, and several observational studies have suggested a protective effect of perioperative aspirin against thrombotic risk. However, there are also studies that show aspirin to increase perioperative bleeding risks.
