Abstract

Summary: Incidental diagnosis of thyroid nodules is very common on adult neck ultrasonography (US) examination. They are primarily assessed on size and greyscale ultrasound criteria such as hypoechogenicity, taller than wide, spiculated margins and calcifications. In difficult situations Doppler US features may improve tumour characterisation and staging.
