- Abstract : Obstet Gynecol Surv 2016;71(3):160–161 A large number of studies have investigated the impact of lifestyle factors (tobacco use, oral contraceptive [OCP] use, body mass index [BMI], and alcohol use) on the reproductive lifespan by correlating the impact of these lifestyles choices on the age at spontaneous menopause. In epidemiologic studies, the strongest evidence for an association of a single environmental factor and the age at spontaneous menopause is smoking.
