Abstract

Abstract : After 20 years, the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC (DPD) is finally being phased out and will be replaced with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The new regulation is scheduled to be formally adopted in early 2016 with EU member states being given two years to implement it. Given the complexity of the GDPR, the timeframe leaves little time for corporate in-house counsel, law firms and e-discovery providers to get up to speed with the new regime.
