Abstract

Abstract: Polycrystalline Y0.5 Er0.5 PO4 (I) and Y0.5 Yb0.5 PO4 (II) are prepared by firing stoichiometric amounts of Y2 O3, Yb2 O3 (Er2 O3 ), and (NH4 )2 HPO4 (Pt crucible, 1200 °C, 20 h), while single crystals are obtained by a flux method employing (NH4 )2 HPO4, PbO, and Ln2 O3 (Ln: Y, Yb, Er) in the molar ratio of 50:48:2 (Pt crucible, 1200 °C, 30 h; cooling to 25 °C at a rate of 0.1 °C/min).
