Abstract

Abstract : Silver coins turn to gold–silver coins. A tailored silica cage is directly prepared from a seed silver particle of a desired shape. Small materials such as ions and molecules diffuse in and out through a large number of cage pores. Starting with silver nanoplates, a successful synthesis of gold–silver bimetallic nanoplates replicated the seed shape. The work by D. J. Ahn and co‐workers on page 1322 establishes a simple strategy for the fabrication of multi‐component metallic nanoparticles with a defined geometry.
