- Abstract : Measurement of combustion gas by high‐energy X‐ray Compton scattering is reported. Abstract : Measurement of combustion gas by high‐energy X‐ray Compton scattering is reported. The intensity of Compton‐scattered X‐rays has shown a position dependence across the flame of the combustion gas, allowing us to estimate the temperature distribution of the combustion flame. The energy spectra of Compton‐scattered X‐rays have revealed a significant difference across the combustion reaction zone, which enables us to detect the combustion reaction. These results demonstrate that high‐energy X‐ray Compton scattering can be employed as an in situ technique to probe inside a combustion reaction.
